The Colours of the Cambridge Gulf, Wyndham
One of the most spectacular places to witness a sunset across water in Australia is at the Cambridge Gulf in Wyndham, Western Australia.
The Bastion Range Look Out at this very top edge of Australia’s also looks out to the islands at sea above our coast line, to the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf.
This lookout is also known as the 5 River Views, this is where the mighty Ord River and 4 other major rivers come together at the Cambridge the Gulf…no shortage of water here, ever. The Ord, Forrest, King, Durack and Pentecost Rivers flow profusely.
Perched at the lookout with camera and a glass of champagne this is one of most spectacular natural features one can witness.
Wyndahm in the East Kimberly is a town that is extremely run down and has lots of local history and one of the harshest environments in Australia.
In its hey day the port was established for shipping meat from the local meat works and was the life blood of this area, the cattle industry here was dominated by the Durack family who pioneered the region.
Wyndam Port is still operational exporting live cattle and has a new industry of crocodile farms.
This is about the colours of Cambridge Gulf and will simply allow the photos to give a glimpse of this harsh magic place that is so different from our major towns and cities.
