Hi Jim,

Paul Moore
Nice shot Joe, love the way you have the redwoods and the trees in the background so well exposed, would love to know how also!
Joe Mortelliti replied
Thanks Paul,
This tends to ruffle a few feathers:-)
My FujiS3 has a wide dynamic range 10 stops, mind you I beleive that latest top DSLR cameras have closed this gap as 7 was the normal.
This shot however still needed a bit of Photoshop to darken the background tress…I shoot Fine Jpeg, (for 5+ years)which everyone tells me is not right, but with bracketing you nail the expsure and I find Photoshop plays a minor part in my work/time.

I always thought they were from California! It’s a very impressive glade of trees – every time I walk amongst such giants I become contemplative – aware of my own small stature.
Joe Mortelliti replied
Peter I think you are right!... I’m still having some chemo fog issues it seems:-)
Elaine van Dyk
This is amazing, Joe….........this forest of California Redwoods with what looks like natural Australian forest across the little stream. Great photo. I imagine it would have been pretty tricky with much contrasting light.
Joe Mortelliti replied

Hans Kawitzki
Nice work Joe,you have managed the exposure very well here, the camera you are using is it the Fuji S3 Pro with Nikon lens ?
Joe Mortelliti replied
Thanks Hans,
Yes it is the Fuji S3 Pro, with the usual bag of lenses that is too heavy to carry around,so 95% of my pics are with a 24mm lens. :-)
Hans Kawitzki
Thanks Joe,that 24mm would make it about a 38mm lens ?
Joe Mortelliti replied
Very close 36mm I understand
Stephen Colquitt
