The Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat, or Yaminon, is one of the world’s rarest large mammals and is considered to be critically endangered.

Wombats are marsupials, which means they carry their young in a pouch. They dig burrows and eat grass. The Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat is the largest of the 3 species of wombat.

Only around 200 Northern Hairy-nosed Wombats are alive today. They live in two small locations in Queensland Australia. All the animals in this species are wild – there are none in captivity.

Great rendering of Hairy’s extremity. It really makes an attractive, eye-catching design, & it appears to be saying ‘Hi!’, if not ‘Live long & prosper….’ Furthermore, good for you for bringing attention to this fascinating creature, which brings me back to ‘Live long & prosper, Oh Hairy-nosed One!’ I will be celebrating on 11 May.

A Vulcan greeting from a wombat – hadn’t occurred to me, but now that you mention it I can see it.
    Indeed, may the wombats LLAP.
