A stencil art styled Mammoth design for t-shirts.
Mammoths
Hairy elephant-like megafauna that lived in America, Europe and Asia. Extinct.
No doubt you’ve heard of them.

Some of them were amazingly large animals – around ten tons!
This one is small enough to fit on a t-shirt.

Very nice indeed. Yes, I’ve heard of them… I have megafauna running through my dreams at night.

  • Ah, you too?

Always & forever. I just finished reading Dragon Hunter: Roy Chapman Andrews and the Central Asiatic Expeditions by Charles Gallenkamp ~ fascinating stuff. In 1956, when I was 8 years old, I wrote to Andrews c/o the Natural History Museum in New York. By then he was retired & long gone from the Museum, but they kindly forwarded my letter (I drew pictures for him, too) to him in Carmel Valley, CA. And what to my wondering eyes should appear but a hand-written postcard from the man himself. One of my treasured possessions! Speaking of which… there’s a William Morden mentioned in the book. He was a friend of Museum director Henry Fairfield Osborn’s, a zoologist who had led Museum-backed expeditions to Siberia & Turkestan, among other places, in the 1920s. Any connection? I thought of you when his name came up.

  • How wise and sweet of him to send a postcard to an 8 year old. Simple gestures like that can have a huge effect on people lives. Andrews must have been a fascinating man, in fact he reads like a character out of an adventure movie. I will have to find out more about him.
Thanks for mentioning William Morden – another movie style adventurer! Must have been something in the water back then. I had never heard of him. I shall pass his name onto my family, as I am sure they will be interested.
    Thanks Sheila! R :)
