cat with deer antlers
I used this as art for a Christmas card to send to friends and family. In the original art the eyes glow in the dark! Alas for this version the eyes remain merely hypnotically piercing.

simple stunning and a wonderful idea
Wow, that was easily the quickest response I’ve had on RB! Thanks Ms Woolley.

Simplicity personified. Leaving out the nose is surprisingly effective!
I’m feeling…hypnotically pierced…
I say, my deer cat has no nose!
So how does it smell?
Well, like acrylic paint, actually :)
When I first sketched this concept I used the cat I live with for reference. She is jet black so her most noticeable features are silhouette and eyes.

I did see this on your blog. Great image!
Hi Greendeer. Thanks for the comment here and the very funny one on my blog. You made me laugh!
I tried twice to make a comment about your illustration ‘mesmerising beauty’ but for some reason my browser wouldn’t let me through the authentication process. Oh well. Keep up the groovy stories and pics – they are very cool and lots of fun!

He has a nose; just not a visible one. Perhaps if I drew a picture of myself sans nose, mine would stop running. Anyway, this is a fine bit of fun, well done in its perfect simplicity, & then there are those EYES. Looks a bit like Herne the Hunter-Cat. ~ Sheila
I hadn’t heard of Herne the Hunter and am so glad you attached a link. How very interesting! The antlers were indeed intended as an acknowledgement of the ancient origins of a mid winter festival (the cat bit was just for fun), but I didn’t know the original wearer of the antlers had a name – now I know. So thanks for the informative comment :)

Love it …. simple and just wonderful !
Thanks Michele. It appears to be one of my more popular pieces. It was a very quickly created print, but sometimes the quick artworks are the better ones!
