This is an amazing portrait!!!

That was a really nice thing to do Ryan – to give the man a copy of the photograph you took of him. I’m sure he was really touched and grateful. So often we don’t get the opportunity to do this, for one reason or another. It’s a great image that shows a lot of character and gentleness. Looks like a painting.

Thanks everyone, as Yves pointed out, it has a very dragonized look. I just want to say that while there are photoshop actions out there to achieve this effect, I did this manually. A lot of adjustment layers, dodging and burning, and sharpening.

Really great photograph – the fineness of detail is excellent, from the amazing eyes to the scraggly beard, the wrinkles on his forehead and around his eyes, and the clothes he’s wearing and his cheeky expression, it works so very well
