My 50th Birthday at the Torbay Steam Fair, Devon

Went to the Torbay Steam Fair and met up with friends and fellow Bubblers Richard, David, Martin and girlfriend Jan.

I was very impressed, there was so much to see and it’s not every day I get to ride on one of these magnificent beasties!! It was terrific to see in some cases three generations all riding on their traction engine. Not to mention all the dedicated characters involved and the kids parading on their miniature machines.

The weather was kind to us also and what started out as a dull and overcast day turned out sunny in the afternoon, I even got a sun tan or was that the coal dust! LoL A great day out!!

Here’s a selection of some of the more amusing pics of the day.

I guess ‘Fred’ wasn’t too impressed with having his picture taken

Nope, weather was pretty good. Had a time when there were a few tiny spots, but it did not amount to anything, sunshine most of the day. Thanks for asking ;) xxxx

Many belated Happy Returns Sue, hope you had a wonderful Birthday at the Steam Fair, my Brother and his wife were showing their owls and I see you stopped for a few photos of them, the one Richard is holding is,

I fully intended going to it but time was so demanding elsewhere I’m afraid,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Many thanks Rod. What a small world it is. Wow! this is a terrific shot. Is your brother from WOT? and perhaps you could help me identify my next pic, I think it’s a tawny owl?
Take care & perhaps you’ll be able to make it next year. ~Sue

Yes Sue, your next photo is a Tawny and very well taken too, in the photo of Richard, my Brother’s wife is the blonde lady sitting down in the background, her owl is Herbie the Canadian Great Grey that is in the article in the Brixham News,in that photo, her owl is being tended by Albert, who owns the Eagle Owl that Richard is holding (Above) my Brother’s owl is also an Eagle Owl but much younger and immature than the one above,my Brother was there,(white hair, glasses and softly spoken) if you have a few photos, he is probably in one of them,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Hi Rod, oh yes, in that case, we’ve definately met your brother, very nice man, let Richard hold the Eagle Owl. We’ll have to look out for them again. ~ Sue
