16×20 acrylic on masonite panel
Nimue was one name of the Lady of the Lake. She was an enchantress that stole all of Merlin’s wisdom and imprisoned him in a tower, or hawthorn tree, or a few other things in different versions.
In this painting I have included the white hart which often appeared in Camelot myth to lead the knights into the forest, or Otherworld. The white hart represents purity and innocence, and is somewhat like the fool card in tarot. It leads you into an adventure that will forever change you. The goat appears in this painting as the opposite of the white hart. The goat represents masculine virility and cunning. These represent the two sides of Nimue. I plan to explain this more in my blog eventually. You can check that out here
