Leanan Sidhe

MoonSpiral

Lexington, United States

Artist's Description

16×20 acrylic, ink, gold leaf paint on gessobord panel
In Irish folklore a Leanan Sidhe was a faerie woman that was fond of artists. They would attach themselves to an artist and provide inspiration to the artist at first, but then eventually suck the life out of the artist. Often the artist would be driven mad by the Leanan Sidhe and would die young, or so the legends say.
