Mary Magdalene

MoonSpiral

Lexington, United States

Artist's Description

9×12 pastel on colorfix paper.

I am highly interested in the idea of Mary Magdalene and Jesus as a couple. It makes perfect sense that someone who preached about love would have known humanly love too. I also picture Mary Magdalene as a goddess, and one of the reasons many early pagans were able to convert to Christianity was because they recognized the goddess in her.
In this painting I imagined her as she might have looked the first time Jesus saw her.
