Going to California

9×12 watercolor and colored pencil on watercolor paper

This is another piece inspired by a Led Zeppelin song, Going to California. Particularly the lines “someone told me there’s a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair”. And then there is that purely esoteric line “Children of the sun begin to awake.”
The ancient Incans called themselves The Children of the Sun. They had legends of a white bearded man that came from ancient Lemuria and brought to them the great spiritual knowledge of Lemuria. Many believe that it is the souls of Lemuria that are awaking now(The Children of the Sun) and are bringing us into the New Age of Peace and Enlightenment. I wonder if Plant knew all this when he wrote those lyrics.

Beautiful. When I read the title of this piece in my feed I though…I know that song…and sure enough I did. I love how your girls do not have “normal” colour hair. Your faces have so much depth and feeling.

  • MoonSpiral replied

Yeah, who wants normal hair :). Thankyou so much Lynette!

I think Led Zep might have been aware of things as they were into mysticism and even dangerously dabbled in Satanism at one stage … one of them lived in Alistair Crowley’s old house … spooky!!!

Sorry – I meant to say what a great drawing this is :)

  • MoonSpiral replied

Oh that darn Satan music. Unfortunately there are many different branches of the mysticism that most people just lump into “Satanism”. I know better than to get into another religious debate with you though Dave…..so please don’t bmail me….hahahaha…....
    Thanks for the compliment tho!

Zeppelin….Floyd….what’s next?! :) LOL This is really really beautiful….my new fave I think! I just love the detail in her face and her hair! You know, I’ve never really looked into the Incans, I’ve been more infatuated with the Mayans….think there’s connection in their stories as the Mayans believe the new age of peace and enlightenment is coming soon? Many believe the souls that lived in Mayan times have been reborn into this lifetime to witness 2012 and the new age of peace.
