Love your idea for a series. Go for it. She’s divine. Cardinals have such a sweet, baby-bird-type chirp that is so endearing to me. Her hair captures the colors of a cardinal beautifully.

I do want to add that I’d love to see your series (incl. “Blackbird”) in the Art Nouveau gallery too. The theme is there, even if not the exact style. But this is today, not the beginning of the last century; so our expression is going to be different. Your women do evoke that era of stylized hair and patterns, etc.

As long as I’m co-host (of Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement), helping out with the gallery, that’s the way I look at it, anyway. As artists, I think we naturally show an affinity for certain artists or styles; and so our work evokes them, even though we may not consciously consider it when painting. At the same time, re-treading another artist’s path should be purely educational; because we need to forge our own—which you have, of course.

Your work is completely recognizable as yours, Tammy. The spirit really comes through the eyes.
