Frida

9×12 pastel on Tiziano paper.

Frida Kahlo once said she was no good at cooking, but if she wanted to be she probably could be because it was really all about what you are passionate about. I think that statement sums up what all of us artists feel. It is our passion that drives us to create, and what makes us better artists.

Frida belongs to the following groups:

1 on 1: The Fine Art of Portraiture , * Painted Ladies *, Feminine Intent (LIMIT TWO IMAGES PER DAY), Mature Woman, Moms 4 Art, Pets and People, Strictly Human Faces , THE SISTERHOOD and Works On Paper Available for sale as

Greeting Cards and Matted Prints

This is incredible. I hate to say it but…I’ve seen paintings of Frida that don’t show her as attractive. You’ve given her the beautiful representation she deserves. Her life was hard and her work a “grotesque” showing of it. She was a true artist. I think she might really like this portrait. Wonderful job, certainly deserving of a feature.

  • MoonSpiral replied

I agree completely. In most of the photographs you find of her she is very beautiful, and yet the paintings always want to present her pain. I guess I understand that, but she also experienced beauty in her life.

The eyes tell a story. Nice work.

  • MoonSpiral replied

Yes, her eyes probably always gave away the physical pain she was in. I always thought it was fascinating that she was in such pain, but would still put a ring on every finger and dress the way she did. Thankyou Vicky for your lovely comment!
