1381 – The Peasant’s Revolt, led by Wat Tyler, climaxed when rebels marched on London. They plundered, burned and captured the Tower of London and killed the Archbishop of Canterbury. The revolt was in response to a statute intended to hold down wages during a labor shortage. Peasants disliked statues at the time. The statue remained indifferent.
1789 – Captain William Bligh of the HMS Bounty arrived in Timor in a small boat. He still thought he and his crew were getting along fine.
1834 – A man invented something useful and called it sandpaper. His friends called him ‘Junior.’
1940 – The Nazis opened their concentration camp at Auschwitz in German-occupied Poland. The neighbours were reported as being ‘a little stand offish.’
1989 – Zsa Zsa Gabor was arrested in Beverly Hills for slapping a motorcycle policeman. The policeman opened fire, not knowing bullets have no effect on genuine, God given weirdness.
1965 – Paul McCartney recorded “Yesterday.”
1965 – Bob Dylan recorded “Like A Rolling Stone.”
2002 – A power failure ended a Britney Spears concert after only two songs.
2007 – I fell asleep with my headphones on, waking an hour later and asked Robert Smith to get out of my bed.
Thought of the day.. ’ Maybe that spider living in your letter box is actually a spider that a friend might of sent you….’
