One day I accidentally brought home our first Flame Point Siamese kitten Sidney from the SPCA. (I didn’t know what “Flamepoint Mix” meant.) He was a little blue eyed indignant kitten in a cage, who literally reached out to me & started complaining. Of course it was love at first sight! I quickly realized Sidney not only had an amazing personality, but was a living piece of art. I knew nothing about Siamese cats. They are born white. Because of their genetics, their color points are influenced by temperature and deepen as they grow older. Sidney was like a watercolor in progress. Sadly, we discovered that he had FIP, a fatal disease for cats and he died 6 months later. I still miss him, but he left behind many gifts: fond memories, a fascination with a new breed of cat, and my blossoming interest in photography.
