words of wisdom! a great piece monti! very well written!
between heaven and hell humankind are outpatients in limbo of insane purgatory…oh that back and forth of there is and there is not a God…meanwhile in the name of God unspeakable brutal horrors and humankind has not evolved beyond being an animal with a predatory nature, unable to leash the beast within…thank you very much Ushna, for reading an out loud though.
blind faith verses logic, never ending questions of eternitythoughtful montdragon such subjects are endlessly debatable
A zero-sum of faith or lack of faith both requiring faith in perishable ideas of what is and is not which can’t be proven…no matter how heated the rhetoric “division within divisions…within division” and it is “endlessly debatable.” There are anomalies of the origin of humankind, creation or evolution that should cause both sides to wonder…the big bang an anomaly of happenstance…and across the universe the unimaginable intangible of randomness of order…meanwhile in the here and now endless debates of “what came first the chicken or the egg…?” Thank you for your comment and reading just an out loud thought.
You know… if I may… I recently heard a program that said that 3 of Darwin’s children died before the age of 10. Another 3 never bore children. This is all rumored to be because he married his first cousin and this caused such damage. Hard to say. He was guilt stricken. Can’t be proven. Just supposition as is all, I suppose. Enjoyed this very much.
Ironic if in fact that was the case…survival of the fittest favors only the strong or species of excellent genes to dominate and succeed within their species…what I have always wondered about the evolutionary process or theory of evolution is why such a variety of life forms and the need to have both female and male to procreate within the species (yup some life forms can change their sex and even self procreate…wouldn’t that have been a better way for humankind to evolve?). Thank you Zolton for commenting and reading this out loud thought.
God is a sadistic paranoid schizphrenic with delusions of grandeur !! Good read Monti !!
Boy-O do we know for sure that there is a God? It is a hell of a mess here on this little rock constantly living in a soap opera du jour of angst and turmoil. I think there is a “something” and not as humankind thinks or believes humankind having “created God in humankind’s image” praying for this and that and blackmailing other humans into believe or else (take your pick of religions ancient or contemporary which is just deja vu of deja vu) and then blaming the mess on a “something” up there you know in heaven (?) for not fixing the problems here (the struggle of humankind might have entertainment value to them other entities often mentioned in various sacred texts, can you hear The Twilight Zone theme music?)…perhaps we are gods junior grade? When and if I do understand what the “something” is, I will get a copyright and publish what that “something” is and what that “something” wants us to do and start another religion, always room for more ideas and philosophies…ha ha. Thank you for reading and commenting…be good Gregory John O’Flaherty.
Thanks for the read…!!!
Dear Monty, God can not be a psychopath, simply because he does not exist…we are the architects of our psychopathy…I love your anger…Of course my comment is to leave the time that is….or does not change your mind..but I love you the same…
“randomness of order” is a question about peoples faith in the ideas of organized religion and of the science of evolution, both are inconclusive, too many anomalies for and against if God does exist or does not exist or that humankind evolved…and oh my god why would God be a “he” if there is a God. I am not “angry” just bemused and amused with the human condition. “randomness of order” is an out loud thought…and open ended. Thank you for reading and commenting, ciao for now.
re your response Monti… totally agree !! I’ll be a priest for your new religion when you get the revelation….. I’m blaming our under suffrage politicians,, and of course Monsanto and Chevron..
Boy-O no religion no priests no organization only randomness of order in free fall of wonderment of wondering of wonders…I is an iconoclast ha ha. Oh lordy lordy religions have always run amuck with mischief and other unseemly shenanigans to enslave the sheep as for politicians what utter scum and scoundrels with their duplicity and self-serving machinations. Sooner or later we will see the human genetic results of what Monsanto has done to the food chain (NO GMO’s!!!)…as you know right now British Petroleum and partners are devastating the Gulf of Mexico and taking no responsibility and of course some God fearing American politicians (Republican fascist) saying “it could be an act of God…not a man-made disaster” the Republican mantra of “drill baby drill” unbelievable hubris with no accountability…just greed…curious animal humankind. Be good Gregory John O’Flaherty.

Freud was right. What I think is missing from the obvious statement that religious belief is just plain silly is the reason for it. I reckon it comes down to our genetic inclination to do nuthin’: use energy needlessly and you wont have energy to run away from the lurking beasty. Belief, faith is about giving one of our biggest energy users, our brain, a nice rest.
Most contemporary religious beliefs (perhaps all) are based on traditions of older religions maintained by a priestly class working with the ruling class to maintain the status quo. Many of the Christians beliefs and traditions of today have incorporated what we call pagan beliefs such as Christmas, Easter and other holidays and adopted symbols, the cross comes to mind, the cross preceding the time of Jesus (it was a symbol of the god Tammuz and the star of David is the star of Rephaim just an aside about symbols). Most people are born into a religion and never question or look for answers and follow sheepishly whatever is preached or demanded from the pulpit…right now the Catholic Church is being exposed for sanctioning pedophilia (moving priests from perish to perish…you would think the Pope would man up like Jesus or at least be humble like Jesus and toss off those robes and become a homeless man like Jesus), Muslim extremist hellbent on holy war and targeting and killing innocent people in whose name (?) and Evangelical Christians so far off the mark from what Jesus said and did they hardly qualify as Christians so involved in politics. Humankind does have something in the DNA for God worship whether it be in the form of religion politics or hero worship, humans are easily herded like cattle and then marked and branded and run along as they are told. As for a supreme deity that is a tough one, more like an imponderable no one prove or disprove what we ignorantly refer to as God. And you are right so much energy wasted on and by religions and most are a “for profit” with showy buildings and worldly trappings and grand ceremonies of pomp and power and some jetting around with ostentatious lifestyles…and it is “silly” living in fear of going to heaven or hell…why are we here on this planet, in this reality, in human form…and only use a fraction of our brains or minds? The big one is why do we age and die…theoretically we should regenerate…? Thanks for the read and the feature…peace to you.
