John 18:36 go figure…
The Bible is the inspired word or words of God, also it is written you can’t add or subtract what is said and written in the Bible. Is there or is there not a supreme Deity, no one can prove there is a God or disprove there is not a God, no more than evolution can be proved as the process that all things came about…a conundrum.
Jesus Christ or The Christ in the bible is called the son of God as well as the son of Man…interesting. No one can prove Jesus of Nazareth was the son of God or disprove that he was not the son of God…provocative. Jesus never claimed that what he said was of his origin or his own ideas (the prophets of the Old Testament also clarified and stated that their spoken words were inspired from God) Jesus also said his words were inspired by God…hubris (?). Jesus never said to build churches or temples, his ministry was always impromptu alfresco or in someone’s home…where two or three might gather…humble and simple. Jesus no doubt was charismatic and joyful but also knowing his fate (read Isaiah 53) of course you would have to believe the scriptures are the word of God. Jesus was for a better description, a homeless man with no material possessions and not interested in making money or acquiring fame and the respect of the status quo, the power of his time Rome and certainly not the Sanhedrin. The scriptures’ describe Jesus chasing the money changes out of the temple in Jerusalem, not your average wimpy wraith of a Jesus Christ as depicted in various times and venues, but a vigorous passionate fully focused on his mission to fulfill the prophecies of the Messiah, a promise woven into the word of God the Bible, from Genesis to the birth of Christ and the conclusion the Book of Revelation…and verified by Jesus himself as the fulfillment promised, Jesus being the Messiah…presumptuousness or inspired by God.
The early followers of Jesus Christ did not call themselves “Christians” but were called Christians (Acts 11:26) easier to identify this group of heretics by the Jews and Romans…brand identity labels make it so easy to target a group.
Today there are a whole range of Christians all with various creeds and philosophies as well as traditions of their brand of Christianity, and very few resemble the early followers of Jesus Christ. Some, who call themselves Christians today, have actively pursued political power, ignoring John 18:36, Jesus states clearly and without a doubt, his kingdom was no part of the world that existed then and that exists now. How can anyone belong to churches lead by politically motivated Christian ministers lusting for and wanting to wield earthly political power be Christians, their leaders are very much like the Pharisees of Jesus time…hypocrites. Some Christian leaders have mega churches and always asking for donations of money and pursuing the blessing and endorsements of politicians, even acting as moderators in political debates…hypocrites. Some Christian leaders have mansions and private aircraft and publish feel good books on how to be a Christian…hypocrites. ‘“But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: “Why do you put me to the test, hypocrites? Show me the head tax coin.” They brought him a denarius. And he said to them: “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said: “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them: “Pay back, therefore, Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God (Matthew 22:18-21).”’ I ain’t making this stuff up, it is in the Bible and Jesus clearly stated he was the Messiah…so who truly are the real Christians today…the evangelical right wing nut-jobs rapture going to heaven Republican Christians…always throwing God and Jesus Christ into everything political, snacking on Rush Limbaugh’s disgusting hate filled diatribes and sucking up and on the likes of Sarah Palin and her phony family values while praising the Lord…hypocrites.
Happy Easter and enjoy the Easter egg hunt and other stuff having nothing to do with Jesus of Nazareth, what will Jesus say about the mess that Christianity is in today…Matthew 7: 21-23 remember he took on the status quo of his time…rapture anyone (?)…can’t prove that there will be a Rapture and can’t prove there will not be a Rapture…Jesus never said anything about a Rapture…the Book of Revelation is a helluva read and the revelation as revealed to Jesus and then revealed to John is a cliff hanger…Jesus was a prophet too…Whoa unto you hypocrites!!!
PS: Of course it is not just only the phony faux Christians, you can include the Jihadist not adhering to the Koran and Buddhist who do not follow the middle way, as well as some of the self righteous Jews exhibiting piety and not following the commandments of their forefathers and the prophets…and then there are the Republican Fascist…they are all hypocrites.
PS: I have never denigrated or disparaged anyone’s religious or belief systems (except for Republican Fascist…and I am not a Democrat)…I believe in live and let live…but can’t help but wonder how so many, never question what they believe, just espouse for the most part the religious or political beliefs they were born into. I believe there must be a supreme entity of dynamic energy which can be defined but not comprehended, very much like scientist cannot agree as to what exist in the universe or other phenomenon that can be seen studied and defined but not comprehended as it changes and does change, with each new discovery and redefined as new data is compiled adding to the knowledge of science. As far as politics…it sucks and is for suckers getting sucked up into a zero-sum, but I believe the greatest danger to the United States of America and the world is the extreme right wing nut-job Evangelical Christians and Neo-Cons masquerading as patriots cloaked under the umbrella of Republican Fascism. Homo sapient believes what they want to believe and will fiercely argue and die for a leader’s religious or political ideas and philosophies brandishing the brands they are branded with…go figure.

Mathew 6.1 ” Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them, for then you have no reward from YOUR Father in Heaven….... 5. And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogue and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Trully I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to YOUR father who is in secret; and YOUR Father who sees in secret will reward you”...
makes you wonder why there are any Church buildings….
in Corinttheans somewhere, it warns against dividing the House before the Debate is even decided,, which says alot about our current political system… Christianity was and is very political…. I think they weer an off shoot of the Escenes, early communists…..didn’t Judas get accused of stealing from the Communal Purse… I don’t think he ever got to defend himself in Court, and I think he was murders for the Tribute of silver that Rome gave him for doing what Christ had asked of him….... tributes were paid to emissaries of Kings by the Romans….... Wasn’t there something about finding your enemy under your own roof.. poor George finding George under his roof..
I am that which you say I am…..... pretty much as the media says today….

Two commandments that Jesus said covers it all…worship God (based on knowledge not mans traditions or visual aids or houses of worship by brand identities) and love your fellow man (agape love which is pure and covers the ten commandments) and both are very hard to do…almost imposable. My journal entry is more an out loud musing not to be disingenuous to anyone but wondering why more folks don’t question what they have come to accept especially a faith so divided (also applies to the other religions)...one God many religions…and they make God in their own image and sell Jesus. A caveat can’t prove that there is a God and can’t prove there is not God…and yup a lot of religions.
Thank you O’Flaherty (John) for the comment and especially for reading this journal entry.

I am dyslexic so no never mind about a couple of artistic arrangements of letters…the brain dyslexic reads it fine and the non dyslexic mind compensates except for the anal retentive buggers so keen on the rules and being so proper with our sacred English English besides English is very flexible even when misspellings occur…a fav of mine via some very prim and proper friends…Bugger Off!!!! to anyone who might make a note of it…I love that expression soooooooo vulgar.

MontDragon, I could not agree with you more except for the bit about evolution which there is overwhelming evidence in it’s favour. As opposed to zero imperical evidence for the existence of a god as described in the 3 main religions.
Righlty so, I say live and let live and but it’s unfortunate that those who do believe in God, don’t afford athiests or agnostics the same virtue. They control our schools, our politics dictate our cultural mores.
Good books to read for you would be Letter to a Christain Nation by Sam Harris.
God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens, The Athiest Manifesto by Michel Onfrey and The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.
I’m sure you may have already read them but I can gaurantee that 99 percent of religious people haven’t and in there lies part of the problem.
Thanks for sharing these thoughts.

Oh Spikerama there is always an exception harrumph harrumph’n and it usually is a zero-sum ping pong of the ping pong ball going click and clack…a back and forth which if done with respect and over a bottle of Port…cigars optional (some think that cigars are gauche and déclassé I don’t smoke cigars I do drink Port) could be conversation in the form of a dialog but rarely is…too many absolutists…so live and let live…still only one way off the planet and in the meantime who knows for sure…ping pong…you going Easter Egg hunting?...not me…thank you for reading my journal entry and your comment most appreciated…just musings only…Namaste.

I am tempted to quote Jesus (as reported in the Bible) but I will resist.
It seems to be human nature to seize upon an admonition (Jesus’ direction to spread the Gospel) and twist it to fit an agenda (spreading the Word at the end of a sword or bonfire during the Crusades). It is unfortunate. Jesus’ teachings are worthy of consideration and if followed could lead to a more peaceful and satisfying life.

Touché demagogues and the followers believe what they choose to believe and see what they want to see always with an agenda…and self serving…Constantine legitimizing Christianity to serve a purpose at the end of a sword and well documented (I ain’t making it up)...and along the way traditions and superstitions added to mollify and gain converts (Easter eggs hot cross buns and other stuff) and making a profit ala The Crusades (well documented) and so here we are today…”send us your donations” all sorts of faux Christian (not all some try very hard to live as commanded) ministers jetting around and living the elitist lifestyle of the Pharisees and mixing their brand of religion and secular politics with lust and gusto enriching themselves on the charitable endowments of the poor and working class without any shame…Robertson…Warren…Swaggert…Haggard…Hine…a long lists…and more yet to come no doubt. If they would divest themselves of their trappings of material wealth walk and live in Jesus footsteps and refrain from earthly politics…that would be a miracle…they are Pharisees…a blind person can see them and their mark of 666…they are chasing after the wind and will not be able to pass through a needles eye.

Organized religion is a business from the ancients to the present day. Man has done some good…and of course the best intentions do go astray…ideas or philosophies are not always nefarious…usually it is the followers and they are easily lead that is why they follow. Greed is a factor for sure usually it is power and power begets money which begets greed…and then they all die and it starts all over again.
TY 4 the read Sam.

Been reading the comments and replies. Not a bad thread developing here… God created evolution, but didn’t give man, or a lot of them the mind to see that the writtings of other men were nothing more than the writtings of other men. Metaphore becomes literal in minds that think a Pot can Call a Kettle Black…... Politics and poiticians do the same as the religions. Put across law as the what is to believed and blame all for the shit or shot that the belief brings..War in the name of liberty is as abhorant as war in the name of God. Wheteher or not either exist does not make right the death of another at the word or hand of man.
I wonder how much has been made out of the sale of the word, what ever the faith. I am sure the printers are pleased…
On dislexia and the wrod misspelt on hide or pelt. Have youb tried reading the Revelation of John The Devine, from the last word back to the beginning…interesting.. what a wonderful word smith…
Gospel and go spell…... 666 is 616 in some books…
