Bear Recliner, Black Bear Eating Chokecherries by

Near Gibson Dam, the black bears are out, eating their fill of chokecherries, trying to fatten themselves up for winter. This youngster found a nice recliner chair and sat down for a snack!

This photograph is memorable to me, because it’s so difficult to capture wildlife in the wild, performing their ordinary routines.

Gibson Dam is west of Augusta, Montana.

Photo was taken with a Nikon D300, Tamron 70-300 mm lens.

Thank you!

Enjoying what Montana has to offer, greatly influences my work. Rodeos, horses, mountains, all of this plays a part in what I create. I lived here in Montana, taking care of cattle and horses on the ranch until I retired a few years ago.

I now spend my time recreating in Montana, and creating photos and paintings from what I see here in this state.

He/she looks like a happy, healthy bear. Hope there is plenty of forage to go around for a healthy winter. Great capture here Donna! :)x

  • It was the cutest bear ever, lol. So happy to be munching away on the berries, even though we were watching. Thank you Sephen!
