Tug O War, Swallows in Montana by Donna Ridgway
In the continuing saga of the swallows in my yard, here’s a neat tug of war! Mom brought in a bug with long appendages, the baby caught the bug by the end of an antennae. The mom knew the baby would lose the bug, if she didn’t get a better hold on it, so she began to fly away, but the baby didn’t want to let go of the bug! I can’t believe I’d snap at the right second to catch this…
7/23/10, this little bird flew from the nest. I wasn’t there to see her leave, and there’s a sad, empty feeling in the yard. But I’m so happy she’s off with her parents, learning to fly and hunt for herself…This was such a successful family!
This is the first time, I’ve ever captured a tug of war between birds!
