Bunch o' Bucks by Donna Ridgway

Bunch o' Bucks by

We left the car show at Lincoln, Montana, and headed home. We can never take the straight road home, it isn’t in our nature! So when I saw the road to Bean Lake coming up, I told Robert, “What the heck, we won’t get anything else done today anyway, let’s hit the back roads!”

When we saw these bucks grazing on a hillside opposite the road we were following, we knew why we’d felt we should drive this direction!

Two four by fours, and two-a two by two and a two by three…25 tines in one photo!

Not a great shot, for I was shooting directly into the setting sun, but you can see the bucks, and their antlers, and that was the best I could do before they disappeared over the ridge!

About Donna Ridgway

Enjoying what Montana has to offer, greatly influences my work. Rodeos, horses, mountains, all of this plays a part in what I create. I lived here in Montana, taking care of cattle and horses on the ranch until I retired a few years ago.

I now spend my time recreating in Montana, and creating photos and paintings from what I see here in this state.

Wow, bunch of bucks in one place for sure! Nice shooting!

  • One buck was at the bottom of this hill when we first spotted them, he very slowly moved toward the top, munching away on everything he saw. The first buck was just going over the hill when this one joined them. I couldn’t believe it, that I finally got them all in the same place for this picture. I kept telling Robert all the time, oh, it’s not going to work, that guy is so slow! lol
