The Grey Ghost

The Grey Ghost

This elevator sits in Cascade, Montana. I took this photo as we drove down city streets. So many elevators are becoming things of the past, it seemed fitting this one looked like a ghost through the trees.

Awesome capture, and your right, so many of these have dissapeared over the years. What a shame.

  • Donna Ridgway replied

I always wanted to turn one into a house…you’d think it would be done now and then! :) Thanks Sean!

Great Donna, yes I’ve seen them turned into grain storage for farmers, instead of wasting away. I have a neat one from North Dakota I just took a few days ago. Will work on that today.

  • Donna Ridgway replied

I think there’s a company in this area, that moves these elevators. Wouldn’t it be a sight to see one going down a road somewhere? I’ll be watching for your North Dakota elevator, and I won’t make any bad jokes about it….Maybe North Dakota jokes are just a Montana thing, but we go crazy over it. lol

I didn’t know there were bad jokes, I’m not from ND so you can’t bother me, lol. I did watch one going down the road to a farmer’s yard. It was a big loss to the village where it was taken from,,,,,,,,it was an icon, but at least it’s still used.
