Tree of Knowledge Memorial 2
The Tree of Knowledge- the site of the 1891 Shearer’s Strike and birth place of the Australian Labour Party situated in Barcaldine, Queensland. The tree was poisoned and killed a few years ago, but a very modern memorial has been built which incorporates the petrified original trunk and branches into the sculpture. These photographs are from the opening ceremony for the Memorial held on the 2nd May, 2009 at Barcaldine (which is just down the road from Longreach).
