This is a shrine deep in the mountains. There is a deity housed within it, but the divinity resides around it. A sacredness, not confined to a structure, roaming abundantly as nature. There is a stream running alongside it, carrying with it, the streaming vibrations of the surroundings; to those cherishing its life giving flow – the devotees down below. I climbed up to merge with these vibrations arising , and not to meet with concepts housed within buildings.
One need not travel far to meet the sacred; but there are so many eager to impose their own; even those who say there is no god. One cannot find himself, let alone truth, caught in this clamor of selves; each ultimately attempting – not knowing the ‘nature of self’ – to posit its self alone. Oh, the mind and its ploys! I travel to be away from this noise – ’cause my mind too gets caught in this noise.
Concepts are structured by thought, and so is a self projecting itself through thoughts – a thought structuring itself through concepts – while “the sacred” lies beyond all thoughts. One may formulate it through words, but then it becomes the past – a conditioning: a mind and not the sacred. One can only define the known. Abide in this silence, this ‘not knowing’, and who knows, you may meet the sacred!
(Inspired by nature, and time amidst it, exploring the sacred teachings to realize truth, and the ‘nature of self’; to go beyond words, and not be "stuck on the finger pointing at the moon”.)
