Want some dinner
This is the old original kitchen in J Ward in Ararat Victoria.
A stunning place to visit, but the harsh reality of the place really hits when you see the tools and rooms and the newspaper clippings whilst taking your tour.
I got very lucky and had the tour guide all to myself and he was a wonderful man who went into great depth of the history of the place but forgot to tell me we were walking on graves at one stage
J Ward is well worth the $12 fee to get your tour so if you are around that way drop in there they are a lovely bunch of people and love your questions.

Very interesting shot and history. Sure is a far cry from our lavish kitchens of today.

I did this tour with my mother and sister some years ago, and my sister has a similar historical fascination with these places, but the harsh reality/ sadness struck us too.

Truly these places are very interesting and very mind opening to how much the world has changed and what really happened back then.

Amazing detail in this one Melissa, I am wondering how many meals were cooked each day with such basic equipment. Perhaps porridge, stew and bread? Wow you really have my imagination going with this image. Cheers Dulcie.

What an amazing place! I’d love to visit. You’ve captured the crudeness of what life must’ve been like in that time.
