Just to prove that English seaside in August is not all gloom and doom (see Looking for the summer and Bognor Regis), here is a slightly different take: This is in Lancing, West Sussex, UK. As we drove on the A259 from Worthing to Brighton, we passed Lancing and spotted an open market on a beautiful green lawn hill, between the road and the beach huts, including an intricate kids playground. We ended up spending most of the morning there, even though it wasn’t at all in the plan.

Ok, so some of the huts were not quite as whitewashed as others, and the red accent was a dog litter bin, not a postbox, and it doesn’t quite fall on the “thirds”, but this is reality, not perfection!

And, yes, I know that for come of us it looks like a famous software vendor’s backdrop… grow up! ;-)

    This is indeed so “Summer Fresh”!! Love the crispness to it. It all works so well together. The trails in the sky (all converging seemingly) add just the right amount of ‘action’ to this shot.

    Thanks Vikram. I agree about the clouds. I did try and crop the left to bring the red into the thirds, but it was loosing far too much of the sky so I decided against it in the end.

    The huts look like an embellished underline to the activity going on high up. I like the green-white-blue combination and the red spot is what makes it look “human”. A very good shot.

    Very summery indeed! Beautiful contrasts between the sky, the grass and the huts, and I love that little red splash of the dog litter box against all the white!
