Goodnight Mr. Edison... Going Green!
Governments around the world, are setting targets to phase out the use of Incandescent light bulbs, in favour of more energy-efficient fluorescent sources of lighting, effectively “sunsetting” one of the most ubiquitous inventions of the 20th century. Thomas Edison created the first commercially viable incandescent light bulb in 1879. Little did he know how much his invention would contribute to the energy crisis that dominates the 21st century!...
(This is my first attempt at Digital Art, so I’d love to hear your comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc. I’ve started with a picture of a red lightbulb and used PS CS2 and most of the techniques in this tutorial for the water reflections. Unfortunately, it looks like it has since been removed)

I had to ‘see’ the tutorial to confirm that it was digital art – fantastic work George!
I love that your work has so much thought behind it – on the surface it’s a fantastic pic, but when your side note is read – it adds another dimension to it that takes it beyond that top 5%.
monocotylidono replied
Thank you so much my friend for the compliment! The technique is quite impressive and soooo…. beyond my current understanding of PS, that it took a few attempts to figure out what the instructions actually said… But I’m happy since I got the result that I “saw” in my mind originally. :-)
Johanne Brunet
Fantastic work, George! At first I thought it was real liquid, and I thought that you had been quite reckless playing with electricity and water that way! Then I started to get the feeling that I had seed those ripples somewhere before… or something similar! LOL!! Great, great job!
monocotylidono replied
LOL – Thanks Johanne, I am staying safe, I promise! ;
) Thank you very much for pointing out the tutorial! It was your picture that gave me the idea in the first place. I’m glad you like it. :)Johanne Brunet
Oh boy! Now I’m seeding things instead of seeing them… LOL!
monocotylidono replied
LOL – I didn’t even notice it. But since you mentioned it, you definitely seeded the idea of the water reflection in my head… :-D
