White Lies

Donald Cameron

White Lies

on another sullen afternoon,
white lies.
on the day the salt desert draws breath,
white lies.
on the same day fair sky abandons all hope,
white lies.
on a monolith sunken in fresh cotton sheets,
white lies.
on the straightened horizon,
white lies.
on the truth,
white lies.

This is really beautiful Donald. It feels so peaceful and contemplative … beautiful use of negative space … leaves one alone with their thoughts.

  • Donald Cameron replied

Couldn’t be more different from the reality, waves were crashing over the rocks hence it being covered in misty water. But yes it’s this transformation into something tranquil and peaceful that I like about long exposure.

Simply beautiful, lovely use of negative space….... the image screams isolation to me, but also strength; the lone rock rising from the difficulties of the sea… enjoying your later lighter toned images!

  • Donald Cameron replied

My hand was partly forced by the conditions, the haar was rolling in so there was a real emptiness in the surroundings, made more so with the exposure. It’s good to try something different now and again as you’re doing, variety is the spice of death as they say :)

Hi Donald, I love it I bet it is a bugger to print

  • Donald Cameron replied

Yes the light tones and faint contrast could be tricky, a quality printer like Redbubble uses will handle it though :)

It looks like your work is getting more minimalistic… love that. I like the beautiful high key tones.

  • Donald Cameron replied

I’m certainly leaning towards the “less is more” approach, over time I’ve generally found the clean and uncluttered shots to be more appealing, so trying to do more in that style now.
