Swirl at Sleeping Rock

Donald Cameron

Swirl at Sleeping Rock

like wooden tops
twisting this way and that

a revolt
trouble afoot at the black ice rodeo

take your partners
and spin spin spin

a waltz
as if your last

the break of news
at sleeping rock

a swirl
he saw everything

Donald, the movement in the sky and the sea are sublime. The simplicity gives this image real depth.Super work!

  • Donald Cameron replied

It was pure luck coming across this at the exact time the tide was hitting the rock and swirling round. I’ve always thought the sky looked a little strange in this one, the cloud patterns were quite unusual and made more so by the long exposure. Glad you liked it!

Donald as a old (very) mono worker when we had to put our fingers in the trays, this image harks back to a wonderful time of great b/w images not only has it great quality it is full of wonderful imagination

  • Donald Cameron replied

Although I love digital, it’s actually a shame that there’s little opportunity to experience darkroom developing now. I did get a chance to do it a few times at school years ago, it was great fun. I was going to sign up for a college photography course a couple of years ago but was told they’d scrapped it and turned their darkroom into a storage cupboard! Says it all really.

i love this, brill movement in the water. I have yet to have time to get the hang of long exposure plus getting out there to take pictures. I have my driving test on the 10th july so if all goes well this summer is going to be way better for my camera than it has been for past couple years!

    sam

  • Donald Cameron replied

There’s so many more possibilities for photography if you can drive, it will make a huge difference to you. I couldn’t live without a car now that’s for sure, yet at the time I got so nervous on tests it took me 4 attempts to pass! I’m sure you’ll do a lot better than that though, good luck :)
