It was quite sunny and windy at our most recent visit to Niagara Falls, N.Y., this summer, and needless to say we got hundreds of photos because we never know when we’ll get back (even though it’s not much more than three hours away). I took this standing close to the American Falls on the New York side – the skyline is Ontario, Canada. Maids of the Mist have departure points on both sides of the Niagara River.

I’m a semi-retired newspaper editor/writer who loves photography, especially flower macros, lighthouses, old mills and covered bridges.

Great capture Monnie. You should have let me known that you were coming.

  • You’re absolutely right, we should have! In our defense, though, we were making an absolute whirlwind couple of days, with several stops on the way and on the way back home so we didn’t spend much time at any one place. I didn’t even get to pop into the casino this time – I’m not a gambler, but it’s fun to play the nickel slots as long as my $20 limit holds out and then quit! We should go up more often since Niagara Falls is only a 3-1/2 hour drive give or take a few minutes.

Great capture Monnie … wish I’d taken the time to go on that boat now ~ would be lovely to go under the falls :)

  • Thanks, Susie – those boats do get up close and personal!
