Artist's Description

Schoenbrunn Village, located just outside New Philadelphia, Ohio (USA), was settled in 1772 by David Zeisberger, a Moravian missionary to the Delaware Indians (Schoenbrunn means “beautiful spring” in native Delaware language, according to the Ohio Historical Society, which operates the re-created village). There are some 17 original (though restored) buildings here, including a schoolhouse. The site also includes a visitor center, museum, gardens and the original mission cemetery. Most buildings are open to the public and contain artifacts reflecting life a it was back in the 1700s.
