This much-photographed grist mill isn’t all that old – completed in 1976 – but it’s a re-creation of a mill that once operated on Glade Creek in what is now Babcock State Park in West Virginia (USA). It was, however, built from parts of three other long-gone grist mills: Stoney Creek, Spring Run and Onego. We had the pleasure of visiting the mill and park earlier this month – always a treat!

I’m a semi-retired newspaper editor/writer who loves photography, especially flower macros, lighthouses, old mills and covered bridges.

Wonderful picturesque scene and capture Monnie great shot!

  • Thanks! I’m almost embarrassed to put it up because so many people have photographed it, but what the heck!

Lovely capture, Monnie. I would have thought this was a very old mill and not a re-creation. Good clear photo and nicely composed.

  • Thanks, Dot! It looks quite old, so I guess they did what they intended, to make it look like the original.
