The Marblehead Lighthouse in Marblehead, Ohio, is located in a small state park overlooking Lake Erie not far from Sandusky. It is open for climbing at specific days and times. The building to the left houses a museum which, operated by the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society, is open whenever the tower is open. The lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources accepted ownership of the lighthouse in 1998, although it is maintained and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard. The beacon flashes a distinctive green light every six seconds.
