Once again featuring Lee Chaerin a.k.a CL from the girl group 2NE1. I no longer consider myself an avid kpop fan since the only bands I listen to are of course Big Bang and 2NE1. From time to time I do shuffle through some old songs by other bands/artists but yes I’m not as fond of kpop as I used to be. Ever since I drew one of my best artworks, Blue, the drawing’s been appreciated by an incredible number of big bang fans online thus encouraging me to add more kpop art and portrait pieces to my portfolio. Although ‘Lines’ features CL, she won’t be as recognizable as you may think. I’m only using her to reflect the vitality of kpop music and how the genre has “blossomed” over the years. However at the same time, the media focuses too much on the physical appearance of kpop artists, giving the impression that only “good-looking” people can succeed in the entertainment industry. We tend to appreciate their image more than their musical talent when really it should be the other way around. This has lead to the downfall of kpop and it explains my loss of interest for it. Inspired by Lee Hi’s ‘Rose’ music video and artist GrenoMJ, I added floral elements tied with semi-abstract components much like my other pieces.
