I couldn’t tell if this Eagle photographed at the lake Kissimmee boat ramp on Joe Overstreet, Kenansville, Florida was the male or female, but my best guess is that it’s a female. I’ve always felt that the males are more skitterish and tend not to linger any place too long. On the other hand this shot was taken just before the nesting time and that’s when you can see both male and female courting and flying together. Anyway, hope you all enjoy this capture.

Wow what an amazing capture Franklin! Beautiful details and he/she stands out so well against the ocean in the background! It looks like you are right beside her!

  • Hi Dave, Trena, hope you’ve found the source of that fire, I read about your troubles with that and my prayers are with you guys. I was actually standing about 25 feet from her after slowly creeping up on her as I was trying to talk to her to make here feel at ease. She finally left after her mate came swooping down, squawking, as if to say, lets get out of here..lol True story.

    awesome capture Frank

  • Thanks Kathy. She didn’t move for so long that I have soooo many pictures of her in the same pose. I waited for her to take off, but I blew the take off picture since I was startled when I didn’t see the male coming down to nudge her off the post…. You know how that goes..lol.
