Photographed at the Viera Wetlands in Melbourne, Florida just a few hours after sunrise. A couple of Otters came out of the water and was playing hide and seek in the grass. Very rare to see them during daylight hours out of the water so I was surprised when they didn’t notice me on the side of the road in my car as this event happened. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I see otters often but never have my camera, and the one time I did Otters are so fast I did not get the shot. Nice one here. They are hard to capture.

  • Just like you Karen, me too. However sooner or later one will eventually catch you and me by surprise again. Once I found them late in the evening in a small park pond where they were never seen again.

I havae lived in Florida most of my life-a verrry long time, and have never seen one of these in the wild! I am so impressed. What a great catch and image.

  • Thank you Margaret. Like yourself I am, it was just like that when I began to first see them. They showed up in small ponds where there seemed to be no waterway leading them in and then they’ve showed up in some of our wetlands. It’s a mystery to me…lol
