Avian Rivalry

Avian Rivalry

I was sitting on this Turkey Vulture waiting to capture a typical Vulture launch from this tree stub when, KA-POW!... , a Red Shouldered Hawk swooped down and knocked this Vulture off his branch. I was stunned to see this same hawk do it again seconds later.
Nothing like good neighbors on the street I guess!

An amazing image. It seems that the small birds are always picking on the larger birds (bird hierarchy). I love the capture of the turkey vulture in flight. They aren’t much to look at, but in flight, they are stunning.

Brilliant capture. You wildlife photographers leave me in awe. I know you are supposed to just focus and track on the eyes, but I’m hopeless. You are magnificent.

Thanks Tom. I share your zeal to capture these bad boys who have few bird friends of their own…lol
