The Way God Intended it to Be

Finally, two more chicks pop up out of the Owls borough to make a total of 3 additions to the family. It’s Astonishing to see this Owl stay over and protect her young so consistently, and so patiently. Taken on Hutchinson Island, Florida.

I’ve looked for owls, but never seen them! This would have to be such a thrill to not just see an owl, but the whole family!!! What a great job you have done in capturing this group!!! An instant fav for me!!!

  • Franklin Lindsey replied

Thanks guys for dropping in to see my picture. I can understand what it’s like looking for Owls. I had previous pictures from a state park, but the Owl and nest was too deep in the thicket for good shots. They are secretive, but once you’ve studied their behavior, your chances get better.

WOWZA!!! Beautiful family!! the light is incredible!! PHENOMENAL!! capture!!

  • Franklin Lindsey replied

thank you also. Wildlife is so addicting for me living in a place like Florida, especially since there is this battle between human growth and dissipating sanctuary for these creatures to go. It’s amazing how they still find places to raise their own children…. thanks

Ooh to have seen this…much less to have taken the photo. So very nice to capture mom with the chicks. I seldom have seen the owls in the wild and never the young ones! Very good eye.

  • Franklin Lindsey replied

I hope that next year WT the residents of this community will let me back in again also!

  • jeffrae

    jeffrae

How lucky you are to see this and photograph them…I have never seen an owl in the wild and would be thrilled to have seen these and taken this wonderful shot!

  • Franklin Lindsey replied

Your so right jeffrae. I had an opportunity to photograph owls in captivity but I just couldn’t do it. They were so large and so fat from their keepers feeding them like most animals in captivity look like. Animals in the wild are lean, so yes I was surely lucky to get this opportunity, but Florida has many opportunity’s if you keep your eyes open here… thanks
