the economics of real life

9-25-10 @10:05pm

i need a mother fuckin job
i’m startin to feel like
a no good slob

i’ve earned my keep all my life
now i’m forced to tax
my soon to be wife

for all that i need to get by
and the very few wants
that i feel that i

can ask for without leaving us broke
this no money bullshit
aint no joke

sometimes i think i ought to dwell
back in the things
that paid so well

all those years ago when i gave no shit
about anything but
how many dollars i get

from the folks that worked my dirt
as long as i got mine
i didn’t care who got hurt

i made my money and payed my own way
and slept good at night
and felt great every day

i had all the things that make life grand
a house, and a car
and cash cash in my hand

now i’ve got a lady, and food on the shelf
but it’s just not quite enough for
a man like myself

i need to provide for this woman of mine
and give her in life
all things fine

unless i find work i fear that i might
go bad-ass just to
make me feel right

this isn’t particularly what i want to do
but tell me please
what it is that you

would do if your job had been sent over seas
or taken by criminals
that spread like disease

and leave folks like me left to the dregs
‘cause i’ll die before
i’ll fuckin beg

some socialist pricks to fill my hand
with the things that i could
earn as a man

the economics of real life
