The Song Of The Siren

Some succumb Far too easily
To any sound Which seeks to
Starve and sub-dominate
The haunting hymns of solitude
Which rattle in the soul’s ear
Causing it to hear
The very beating
Sense of self
That pulsates and flows
Underneath one’s salty skin
Some become sycophants to the Siren’s sensual song
And her poetic promises
Of ethereal affection
Of penetrating intimacy
They so readily empty their minds
Fill up their hearts
And surrender their souls
For the slightest melody of carnality
But what use is passion and love If it merely runs on empty
When the lover is lost And the Siren’s song
Drowns out one’s sense of Right and Wrong

Don’t let the false symphony of what you think is love or passion cause you to lose your sense of self and what is right and wrong.

Good advice but alas easier said than done..
So very, very true… Fabulous insight into love and our intentions… that is until we fall again. Next time, next time…
    :o)

Made me think of the Tracy Chapman song This Time.

  • I love Tracy Chapman! She is a poet.
Hmm, perhaps we are meant to fall a few times just so that we can learn to walk with our heads held high.
