I love tutorials. Well, maybe I should say that I must love tutorials, because I keep downloading the damn things even though they make me nuts!

step1: Draw an oval or an egg shape.

step 2: Put a vertical line through the center of the
egg, then divide the bottom half of the egg
in to 3 equal sections.

Step 3: Now just add a bit of that “shading the ball”
technique that we learned in lesson 1, and
“voila”, Your finished!

Sound familiar? I never can figure out how I am supposed to get from shading a ball to Halle Berry in 3 easy steps! AARRRRGGHHHHH!

Cool concept. Well executed. I know what you mean about tackling those tutorial steps. Still, its the challenge of drawing the perfect face that keeps us practicing again and again.

  • Very true BurrowsImages. I just seem to always pick the ones that assume I know much more than I actually do. If this keeps up, I may have to actually break down and learn something.

Did you ever play the game in school where the teacher asked you how to make a PB&J sandwich? Everybody would always be missing a step or two in the instructions…I gave up on tutorials long time ago figuring I’d just do my own thing lol

  • DD, yes, I do remember that. As a matter of fact, just the other day I asked one of my more skilled Private students if she could make a paper airplane. She said yes, and the had one made in about 1 minute. I then told her that I didn’t know how to make one, and could she explain it to me, using only verbal instruction. It took about 20 minutes, and was a lot of fun. When I got home, I noticed that many of the tutorials I had collected didn’t do much better. That’s what inspired the tee. :D
