question about imaging software

I plan to buy Photo Shop 6 soon and was wondering if you are able to put it on more than one computer, for example I would like to put it on the regular home computer as well as my husband’s laptop.

Thanks for your help, I am not the greatest with all this technology stuff.

Firstly, I’d recommend you buying Photoshop 7 instead of 6.

And yes, you can use it on two computers at home. I don’t see why not.

euh photoshop 7 is not available anymore, its photoshop CS now, and you can put it on more computers, but if they are connected by a netwerk , you only can use it on one computer, disconnect to use it on both.

Photoshop CS is fantastic. Loads of options, easy to use (your creativity is your limit in what this program allows you to do). CS2 is more recent but I think CS1 will do you just fine… cheaper too!

Actually, CS3 is most recent but very expensive too. I personally prefer 7 or CS. :)

Do you know where I might find CS1? I have been checking online and have only found photoshop 6 or CS3 which is very costly as you mention.

wow… couldn’t find it either. Uhhh, hey, check out online on “craigslist.com.” Don’t know if you’re fimiliar with it but you can place an add for free in your area, ask for it and people are very helpful. Give that a try!

    Daniel,
Thanks forthe help, I was not able to find the CS but found a full version of CS3 After Effects for an amount I can manage. Are you familiar with both of them? Which would be the better choice

thanks for the help, was unable to find CS, but found full versions of CS3 extended or CS3 after effects for a price more in my budget than I had been seeing before now. Are you familiar with both of these? Which one would be the better choice? & is the same for both.

CS3 After Effect might be for Video Editing. I’ve got Adobe After Effects which is for video. That makes me believe CS3 A.E. would be too. Looking online, extened is more for video too. You want Photoshop CS3 (check this link:

On the Adobe site, try buying the Student, educational version. This will save you $$. Good Luck!!!!!

I bought Photoshop 7 on eBay about 1 1/2 years ago. The seller wanted CS or CS2 and had never used/opened/registered it. I was lucky as you have to be very careful. I purchased it “Buy it Now” for half the price.

I just bought Photoshop CS2 on Ebay last week at a greatly reduced price. Just put it on my computer yesterday and am learning ow to use it. Check Ebay out. They even have CS3 on Ebay too.

hey mmills, just thought I would add my two cents on the subject, I personally use Photoshop Elements 6, and it does everything I want it to and more, depending on what you intend to use it for, it is a great program, especially if you mostly edit photography, I have been very happy with it so far, been using it about 6 months… I have used CS2, and while it was a great program, most people don’t need all of that extra stuff… Good luck whatever you decide..

WikiPedia’s Adobe Photoshop release history is a good way to decide which version is for you.

I see that I got carried away ‘off topic’ a bit with the rest…a simple question about multiple computers and software turns into a ‘this version is the best!’ showdown..haha.

If you want something cheaper consider trying the Gimp program which is free and I find has many good features including the basic. I believe it can be downloaded off the web or you should be able to get it from the CDs from some computer magazines. I got my version off the Australian computer magazine, PC Authority.
    Good luck.
