I am very interested in finding out the different softwares that people use to enhance their photos. Some photos I have been looking at are so insanely stunning. The look and quality are amazing.
So, what do you use?
I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Lightroom.
Anything better?
Any tips?
Suggestions?
Comments?
Concerns?

Photoshop CS2 mostly (along with Adobe Illustrator; Dynamic Photo HDR, sometimes Artweaver for textures) – check the Photoshop 101 group for lots of tips.
Adobe is pretty much top of the list; if you’re a digital painter you might want Corel’s “Painter”

Megan, I use ACDSee Pro2, 95% of the time. Some of my images are done through ACDSee Photo Editor, especially the Selective Colouring ones and a few others, as it has a few slightly different special effects in it, plus you can make stationary and CD covers etc. with it.

Ooo that’s really neat. Thank you for sharing. :)

We have a variety of programs including; Kodak Easyshare, Photostudio 5.5, and Photo Explosion. All of which have standard editing features but each has their own unique features and capabilities for creating unusual images.
The program(s) we used most are Corel Paint Shop Pro XI, and X2. These are very similar to Adobe Photoshop from what I’ve seen on how-to demo videos on the Youtube website. There are several other programs that people have mentioned on here that we would love to try…someday.

Lightroom, lightroom lightroom…
I am not into layer work and magic-trickiness, I want to keep the editing to what I was used to in the darkroom, beyond it I feel it’s not strictly photography.
So filters and cropping only.
I do have Gimp, and goodness me, it this the worst interface ever or what, obviously written by software engineers, not graphic designers.
Just my %0.02

See, I’ve heard fantastic things about Lightroom. I was thinking about getting it. Thanks for your .02%! Much appreciated.

get the demo / beta of version 2.
there are a few additional features added like dodge/burn selective colouring etc.
IMHO if you want to “develop” your digital shots it’s perfect!

Oooo! Sounds awesome. Thanks very much for the advice! :)

We use Pacasa2 which was free and then I just bought Corel Paintshop Pro which is very complex and am still exploring.

Just for something different – I am using Photoshop Elements 6. I had intended to buy Photoshop but when I bought my new computer I wasa given Elements as part of the package. It seems quite good and user friendly and can also be used to create photobooks, cards and other things but I can’t do that yet. If I find limits to when I cna do that are frustrating I will look at something else later.

I’ve never heard of that before. My computer had a trial of Corel Paintshop on it but it ran out. :( Thanks for sharing!

Do you know how Elements is different from the CS versions of Photoshop? If you get frustrated, there are always really good tutorials online. I recently found one for HDR images so I’m exploring with that. Thanks for sharing! :)

I have CS2, but must admit that most of the time I work in Paintshop Pro X…I find it easier to use than PS but that’s just my preference :-)

Very cool. Thanks for sharing, Chris. :)
