Background: In the sixties, there was a weird and irrational conspiracy theory (aren’t they all?) that Paul McCartney had died and been replaced with a lookalike (who just happened to have the same impressive talents). One of the ‘clues’ can be seen on the cover of Abbey Road, which has a VW beetle (!) in the background with the number plate “28IF”. Paul, it was argued, would have been 28 at the time IF he’d been alive. More on the conspiracy/legend/hoax/myth here.
