One of my favourite lollies (candies) when I was a kid was the Choo Choo Bar, threepence (“frippince”) worth of rock hard liquorice. They stopped making it twenty years ago, but a new version is on the market now, smaller and softer. This is my halloween version of the original packaging.

oh my gosh I remember these..back 76-78 when I was at boarding school in QLD, I used to love these. Always bought a couple after we had been to the town swimming pool. Great t-shirt! :)

  • Good to know there are other Choo Choo Bar fans around, Jeannette. I didn’t realise you went to school in Queensland. Which one?

we lived in PNG and from age 10-13 me and my sis went to St Gabriel’s and All Souls in Charters Towers. Our school was really run down, but I loved it!

  • Interesting … we lived in Lae in 67-69 and I was sent to boarding school near Sydney.

my dad was in the police force. We lived in Madang, Wewak, Rabaul (twice), Lae and Mt Hagen before we moved back to England after 9 years in PNG. Isn’t it a small world..and to get back to the subject at hand..I still love your t-shirt!! ;)

Clever re-design – I used to love these when I was a kid – but yes, they were a trip to the dentist waiting to happen.
