thanks Liz … he’s a resident of Aperathos village on Naxos Island. He was sitting in a little cafe and with a few nods, smiles, pointing at camera etc I got his OK to take his photo. It would have been ironic if he’d spoken English, but it seemed unlikely in that little village, which had none of the trappings of tourism.

Matt, I see that you’ve made a great choice to process this in black and white – the facial tones in the colour one dominate so much you lose the impact of the beard. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity ;)
