oh, nah, sorry…dunno Mad Mel…
i was born 1965…my parents were married the day The Beatles arrived in Sydney :)
i also loved The Seekers (judith durham fan) and was in love with a young Johnny Farnham..
my mum strolled hand in hand with Cliff Richards on a Sydney beach in her fab white onepiece for a photoshoot…...and she nursed the late JFK’s mum, and has a signed thank you for the man himself to say thanx…..oh those were the days my friend!!

omig…that’s the Beatles with Mad Mel…....my folks were getting married in Sydney the same day the Beatles arrived in Sydney and the traffic was jammed up everywhere!! A day they’ll never forget, fancy this connection!! WOW!! Mum reckons Johnny O’Keefe was just a normalish regular kinda bloke…but it’s hard to imagine that with his wild onstage antics….o man, you just gotta love that guy!!!

yeah, i love to tell stories about linx with the famous (even tho i’m so far removed from the action myself…but yeah, what if mum and JFK had fallen for each other, would I now be his daughter…oh heaven forbid!!) lol and I used to think that Cliff Richard was quite a hunk too, but now he’s so much older and never married, don’t think he would have been quite the match either…. the other one i loved always was Olivia Newton John, and for some reason I thought she should either marry John Denver or John Farnham, ever the matchmaker even as a little girl….

Great photo Matt … ahead of its time as usual … a nerd back then? Could that bespectacled face and unsuspecting shirt be hiding a Phantoad outfit beneath? Mad Mel also kept me up late at night, listening in bed on my original crystal radio set. Loved the opening sequence where they would release him from his cell with all the clanking sound effects … had a great banter too.

Beneath this mild mannered exterior lurked a cartoonist called Mafia Awesome. There was also a self taught photographer who developed b&w prints in the bathroom…there must be some of those about…
