from the original oil painting:

SKYWORKS

Where the ancient peoples saw stars as the light of heaven shining down through holes in the vaulted ceiling of the sky, the modern view is a skyworks of glowing spheres of iron and dust and rust spinning through an empty space. Perhaps someday we shall all feel ourselves to be inside our ancient mother’s oceanic womb where we are parts of stars and moons and forests and they are us; all the shining light of heaven.

I have, for many years, used trompe l’oeil oil paintings to create the illusion of reality, and now use collage and digital composite photographs to create the same effect. The impossible is possible in our minds.
