When I was a kid, there were only a few things that occupied my existence.
Fairies, drawing, making up stories, horses.
These days it’s not much different. At 22, I still draw, although I mostly use my camera to create pictures. I still make up stories, but I write them down with words instead of squiggles. I love my horses more than ever and yes, I still believe in fairies.
I have a degree in Media & Communication. To relax I take ‘snaptographs’, draw, write or spend time with my horses.
My work tends to go through ‘phases’ and I’m always severely behind uploading my works to Redbubble. When I go back through and look at some of my older stuff, it makes me cringe, but I leave it there just to show myself how far I have come. I think it is important to always remember where you have been; that way you have a clearer idea of where you want to be.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who has just a couple of dollars to spare could help me out, just by buying a sticker or a card. Every cent that I raise from here is one cent closer to helping out Australia’s wild horse population, or brumbies, whose situation is very similar to that of many of the mustangs in the US. I sincerely urge everyone to do some research and learn more about these wonderful horses so that more can be saved from slaughter, which is often taken as the ‘easy way out’ to eliminate these wonderful creatures who have so much more to offer.
There are many brumby groups and associations around the country who do a lot of great work at rehoming and re-educating these beautiful horses. A good place to start if you’d like to know more is the Australian Brumby Horse Register website. They have been declared a recognised breed, which a lot of people still don’t realise! You can find out more about them at http://www.abhr.com.au/
Every cent I make here will be put towards these beautiful horses either through donations, sponsorship, or adoption. I want to do some good with one thing I love, for another, and I am sincerely grateful for everyone who is helping me to achieve this dream.
Much love to all,
Joe’s Hut was featured on the Redbubble homepage earlier this year!!!! excited squeak
