American Tragedy by Misty Lemons
Clear

Currently unavailable for purchase

Acrylic painting on 18×24 inch canvas by Misty R. Lemons.

This piece was inspired by a trip to Oklahoma City to the site of the bombing. I went late at night and the air was so cold and still. To see the monuments was a very humbling and sad experience. It is almost hard to believe that such a beautiful place was the site of something so horrific in American history. My heart goes out to the survivors and to the families of the ones who did not survive. May those souls be at peace now.

Not knowing the inspiration for this I was drawn by the strength and clarity – reminiscent of lamp lit junks floating on a black harbour. I love this.
