Coloured in Photoshop. I didn’t spend too long on this, but i think it looks ok. Still prefer the black and white version, personally.

reminds me of pink floyd the wall, very cool art

  • ha … that’s a fair comparision – i was ten when “The Wall” came out – it blew me away, of course … those marching hammers! Thanks ;-)

the colour is quite subtle…it could have an even stronger colour treatment but yeah the b & w is great as is!

  • hey sox – yeh i agree there’s a lot of scope with colour on this one – it’s a small drawing though, and even tho it doesn’t matter once it’s in photoshop, i wanted to keep treating it as small, and not override the pencil. I can see it being a painting one day.

loved the original and love this too… i like the subtle colour here…
however did your mind come up with this?? it’s brilliant!! lol

  • Thanks Carol – to tell you the truth, i really can’t tell you how i came up with this one… as is often the case, it kinda drew itself. I started with the ‘arm’ in the foreground, then the face, and it took shape from there.
I’m fascinated by the strong reaction this one has recieved – wasn’t expecting it!

i know what you mean about things ‘dictating their own end result’ as you go along… what grabs me about this drawing is the combination of a kind of horror and farce in one, viz the bad father… the pointy-toothed, open mouth, the tongue hanging out, the spittle on the end of it, the castle arms going up at that angle as if they’re ready to come crashing down (on someone) but instead turning to stone up there… the spire fingers, the bats/birds coming out of the ‘arm pit’.. the thin woody landscape of the back and hair… it’s frickin’ brilliant!!!!
